THE RICHMAN & LAZURUS
The Richman & Lazurus is a Bible parable told by Jesus in Luke 16:19-31. It depicts a rich man living in luxury, surrounded by material possessions, contrasted with a poor beggar named Lazarus living in destitution due to circumstances and illness.
One day, the paths of these two souls intersected, and the Richman had to show compassion to the poor begger Lazarus.
alas, the Richman deemed himself and his possessions superior to a desperate soul in need. That very night, Lazarus was spurned by the Richman, only to pass away. Little did the Richman know, that same night, God would also claim his soul.
The Richman wakes up in hell, facing unspeakable horrors and torture, while Lazarus is in paradise by Father Abraham's side. A teary dialogue is had between Father Abraham and the Richman, explaining the reasons behind their fates.
Numerous lessons can be learned from this impactful parable, particularly the risks of mismanaging earthly resources without recognizing wealth as a divine blessing to be utilized for the advancement of the kingdom of heaven through acts of charity or ministry.
We have developed a contemporary version of this parable, providing a backstory for both Lazarus and the Richman, while enhancing the portrayal of hell and heaven cinematically to promote awareness of the afterlife and the impact of our choices on our eternal destination.
